I started writing when I was around five years old. I clearly remember writing a story in my little blank Disney booklet about a princess being kidnapped, a war that ensued for it, and her being rescued by a prince.
Writing was always a passion alongside music when I was growing up. Now I have degrees in both: a Bachelor’s in Music Education with a minor in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in English and Creative Writing.
Besides coming close to the third or fourth former iteration of the Fayte Saga, I believe one of the instigators of my finally pursuing a second degree was my first introduction to Dungeons & Dragons. I was so bummed that I didn’t get into it sooner because it’s kind of a culmination of everything I love regarding fantasy, roleplaying, acting, and improv.
Writing, storytelling, and performance were a burning love of mine. I was a diehard theatre kid back in middle and high school. I wanted to be on that stage when I was in 7th grade and was told the requirement was to join the choir—and the rest is history. Who’d knew that all of this would culminate into the creative creature I turned into today?
Musician & Educator
It started with a karaoke machine and a cheap Casio 61-key piano keyboard. I took piano and voice lessons, competed, sang in the choirs and musicals, and picked up violin, guitar, ukulele, and cello along the way. Teaching music became my calling because I wanted to continue and share the same sense of community, artistry, and passion that shaped my own life.
I was a public middle school music teacher from 2016 to 2025, teaching choir, general music, and guitar for grades 6-8.
I also sing professionally as a hired soloist and choir personnel, and I’ve performed with chamber choirs since 2018.
In addition, I taught private music lessons both in person and online from 2009 to 2023. I no longer run a private studio because I work full-time elsewhere and prioritize my family and personal life outside my 9-to-5. 🙂
Maybe someday I will return to teaching music, but for now, I’m happy making resources and sharing what I can.
Mom & Wife
Right there, in that photo, is my whole world.
It’s sort of funny how I became a mom. I had no idea that I was pregnant.
In mid-2023, when my sister had a grueling 36-hour labor and finally had an emergency C-section, I decided that I probably wasn’t going to have any kids. Turns out I was a month pregnant at that point.
I did a European tour with my chamber choir the following month and was terribly sick for most of the time. I just thought it was awful jet lag, but after I googled my symptoms, the internet told me I was pregnant.
Then becoming a mom was the best thing that ever happened to me. And now we have an incredible and beautiful family. My son was actually one of the reasons I finished the first book of the Fayte Saga; I’d read next to his crib at night as he fell asleep, and it eventually turned into writing.
As he grows, so will we, and so will our capacity to create. I look forward to the adventures, stories, and memories we will make together. ❤️
